At John Max, we are constantly striving to improve our business model. For us, that includes finding ways to lessen our environmental impact and a charitable way to give back to our community.

In July of 2018 we were the pilot restaurant for a composting program with local company GreenerBins. We are very pleased to report that so far, this has resulted in over 120,000 pounds of organics being diverted from landfill and turned into rich compost, part of which is being used in local small-scale agricultural operations. This is the equivalent of preventing nearly 80 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere, or taking almost 20 cars off the road for an entire YEAR!

Another major focus for us was to reduce our use of single-use plastic consumables. When you order your John Max takeout, you will still be getting the same delicious high-quality food, but it will come to you in fully recyclable paper containers, and without any plastic cutlery. As well, we have done away with plastic straws. If you would like a straw for your beverage, please ask and our staff will be pleased to get you one of our compostable paper straws!

Another way we are proud to be doing our part to make Windsor-Essex a better place to live is by making our charity of choice the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County. Through the sponsoring of their Volunteer of the Week, Fitness for Hospice and Hockey for Hospice events, we help them to provide compassionate care to enhance the quality of life for their patients.
